Monica Niculescu triumfa la Guangzhou

Monica Niculescu a castigat turneul WTA de la Guangzhou, China, dotat cu premii totale in valoare de 500.000 de dolari.

Monica Niculescu, a 60-a jucatoare a lumii, a invins-o in ultimul act, cu 6-4/6-0, pe frantuzoaica Alize Cornet, numarul 22 WTA. In cele cinci partide disputate saptamana aceasta, romanca nu a pierdut niciun set si a cedat doar 17 game-uri.

Monica a inceput finala cu un break, dar apoi a mai castigat doar un game din urmatoarele cinci. De la 4-2 pentru Cornet insa a preluat controlul si pana la final nu i-a mai lasat acesteia niciun game. Au fost zece concecutive, doar doua dintre acestea avand nevoie de "prelungiri".

Titlul obtinut astazi la Guangzhou este al doilea WTA pentru Niculescu, dupa cel de la Florianopolis din 2013. Ea mai are si doua finale WTA pierdute, ambele la Luxemburg. Dintre jucatoarele romane aflate in activitate, doar Simona Halep a disputat mai multe finale si a obtinut mai multe titluri.
